The area
Moratalla is a town renowned for
it's rural tourism as it is set in the side of a mountain with
stunning panoramic views. Moratalla, whose population is just
over 9,000 inhabitants, is 681m above sea level and is located
approximately 80kms from the cosmopolitan city of Murcia,
population 350,000.
Set in the Northwest of the region
of Murcia, it is the most mountainous zone in the region, with
more than 20 peaks that exceed 1,400m, among them the ceiling of
Murcia, 2,027m to the tip of the Revolcadores. Two rivers pass
through Moratalla - the Alharabe and Benamor, these long winding
rivers are good for fresh water fishing. |

The narrow and historic streets of
Moratalla confirm its medieval roots, and it’s a place worth
visiting for those interested in Spanish history. Within the
countryside of Moratalla is a superb hotel as well as a large
camp-site where caravans can be housed during your stay - or log
cabins can be rented for periods of time with all facilities
available.
Amazingly this unspoilt location is
only 30 minutes from the city of Murcia which is accepted as the
most rapidly expanding city in southern Spain due to the
infrastructure of motorways leading to Alicante, Valencia,
Almeria, Granada and Madrid. The existing airports of San Javier
(Murcia) and Alicante are less than one hour's drive away. The
new international airport in project at Corvera, Murcia is due
to open by 2008 and will rival the airport at Alicante for size
and air traffic. It will be only 30 minutes drive away. This
alone will boom property prices in the North West area of Murcia
and beyond. |

Lomas de Moratalla is located in the
region of Murcia, with incomparable climatic conditions all year
round and over 300 days of sunshine each year and an average
annual temperature of 21ºC. With 253 km of Mediterranean
coastline, Murcia is one of the richest regions in Spain but
also one of the least exploited.
The magical coves and beaches of the Mazarrón coastline are only forty five minutes drive away, and
there's world class skiing at Sierra Nevada, nearby to Granada,
at only two hours drive. There are also a dozen internationally
renowned golf courses within a half hour drive in the area. |

The word "Lomas"
in Spanish, means "mountainside", and that's why it was chosen
for this development, set against the backdrop of protected
mountains and pine forest in a picturesque location with
uninterrupted views of the beautiful town of Moratalla. The peak
of El Cerezo (1,138 metres), just behind the development, is
higher than Mount Snowdon.

A short drive
will take you to the historic towns of Caravaca de la Cruz and Calasparra, whilst if you choose to go further inland you can
visit the spectacular castle at Benizar, or the cave paintings
at Casas de los García. |
